Goodbye Pinto

When we first met, I was just trying to find a new home for you... I never imagined that we were to become a team, but a team we became, and we had many adventures together. and I will miss you.

We traveled the highways and the byways all across the country and down in to Mexico. I couldn't have asked for a better "road dog". We chased the coyotes in California, we swam in the Pacific and the Atlantic oceans, Lake Michigan, the Sea of Cortez, the Susquehanna and parts of the Colorado, we hiked the continental divide... now, those days are over and I will miss you.

There were times when I got home later than I should have, and you really needed to go out, but you never gave me a hard time. You were always grateful (even when I switched to different brand of dog food) for what we had and what we had together, and I will miss you.

You never questioned me or my sanity. You were up for anything and always on call, and I will miss you.

I'm sorry that your last days were rough ones, I wish there was something more that I could have done... but in the end you still loved me, and I will always miss you.

Only One Life...

We only get one shot at this, so let's embrace our REAL humanity and become the people we are supposed instead of the people we've become. Think of the countless millions who have gone on before us and how much they would give to have the chance to do it all over again.

Back in California

I finally made it, actually I should say "we" finally made it. Pinto has been great company and he loves California. We are in the mountains about 25 miles south of Big Bear Lake and an elevation of about 7000 feet. I will have to get used to the altitude, but it is good to be back.

I Have a Good Life

A lot has happened since my last post. I actually thought about deleting the last couple of posts, but decided against it. I wasn't exactly in a good place. I'm much better now and have reconnected with some good friends.

Getting Things Done

I'm working now on getting things done. When I'm away... a lot of things seem to fall by the wayside, so now I'm sticking close to home to take care of the little things. Vacuuming, cleaning, yardwork, etc., anyway that's what I'm up to now.

Flat Tires

I had a flat tire yesterday evening... two cans of "Fix-a-Flat" and no success so I had to have it plugged. Today I had another one on my way to drop off some bamboo. It could have been worse.

The Times They Are A Changin'

I looked into getting some young people signed up for one of the best basketball camps in the area today. The camps start Monday of next week and there are only 10 people signed up.

I see empty playgrounds and parks, I see empty tennis courts and basketball courts. Where is everyone? I guess they are all online, watching TV or playing organized sports. I fear that we are heading for future taken straight from the movie Wall-E.

Showing My Age

I'm starting to feel my age. I guess I shouldn't say I'm starting to feel it because I've been feeling my age for some time now, but now the aches and pains are "red alert". I have to keep a bottle of Aleve on standby. I can't complain, though... it's all a part of the process, the journey.

I've been away for awhile with some distractions, but now I'm back... for the second time this year. Hopefully, I won't be gone for too long.

Going Home

Now, it's time to load the car and say bye-bye to the beach and hello to the three hour drive. This has been the BEST vacation, EVER!

Jet Skis

Went to the beach today and I thought I saw some fins in the water... we thought they were dolphins, but we later found out they were sharks. We didn't tell Dejah. After going to the beach for a couple of hours in the morning, we went over to the bay side and rented a pair jet skis. That was a lot of fun. Jess took Dejah with her and I was solo, but it was OK. Jessica went farther than she was supposed to because she is a rebel. When it was time to bring them back in, Jess' jet ski died and I had to carry Dejah with me, while Jessica rode in with the guy from the rental place. It was a lot of fun.

This is a great vacation.

Beach...

Today we did the same as yesterday, went to the beach and had a BLAST! Later we walked the boardwalk and rode a few rides. Another scorcher today, almost too hot.
